1. Sylvester Leclaire Smith Marker
Inscription. Sylvester LeClaire Smith was born in Macon, Mississippi and graduated from Vashion High School. Smith was the first African American to serve as superintendent of schools in Missouri and the first to enroll at Saint Louis University on June 6, 1944. He also received his masters in educational administration from the University in 1947.
