Inscription. This site is the former location of the Ironville Fire Company. The fire company was incorporated in 1944 and operated from this site until its merger with the Silver Spring Fire Company in 2000. A social hall and kitchen were built in 1953. A three bay engine room was constructed in 1966. This was a volunteer fire company consisting of local residents who provided the majority of their financial support through a variety of fund raising events. Summer festivals and famous homemade chicken corn soup were among some of their well known favorites.
