The American Society for Nondestructive Testing
on this site in August of 1941, nine founder members with Philip D. Johnson, a radiographer at the Boston Naval Shipyard as their leader, formed the American Society for Nondestructive Testing. Initially chartered as the American Industrial Radium and X Ray Society and later the Society for Nondestructive Testing, the organization has grown throughout the country and the world. The society is dedicated to the development and perpetuation of the highest standards of service and efficiency in the field of nondestructive evaluation of materials.
