Plaza de la Merced
Está localizada en frente de la antigua Iglesia de la Merced y el antiguo convento del mismo nombre, abandonados desde 1811. Hoy día es la Plaza de acceso al Teatro Adolfo Mejía, localizado en la antigua iglesia, y a la Universidad de Cartagena - División de Postgrados. Es centro de encuentro de vecinos y se realizan en ella actividades culturales o festivas relacionadas con los eventos que se realizan en el teatro.

The square is located in front of the old church of La Merced (The Mercy) and the old convent of the same name that was abandoned in 1811. Today it is the entrance plaza to the Adolfo Mejía Theater, in the old church, and the University of Cartagena - Postgraduates Division. Cultural or festive activities related to theater events are held there and neighbors use it as a meeting place.

La antigua Iglesia de la Merced, hoy Teatro Adolfo Mejía (construido en 1911, Arq. Luis Felipe Jaspe Franco), junto al Convento de la Merced, hoy sede de postgrados de la Universidad de Cartagena, constituyen una unidad arquitectónica de intervención. El Teatro Adolfo Mejía es un edificio republicano de características neoclásicas, consta de un volumen de dos plantas donde se encuentra el acceso central, enmarcado por 3 arcos de medio punto en la primera planta y 3 tribunas con balaustradas de concreto en el segundo piso. El Claustro de la Merced presenta un esquema tipológico en "O" tipo claustro, revestido con las líneas del neoclásico, se desarrolla en dos pisos de altura. De fachada y planta simétrica, un pórtico a manera de atrio con columnas corintias jerarquiza su acceso rematado con un frontón semicircular en el eje de la composición volumétrica. Actualmente funciona en él la sede de postgrados de la Universidad de Cartagena.

The ancient Church of La Merced, today Teatro Alolfo Mejía (built in 1911, Architect Luis Felipe Jaspe Franco), next to the Convent of La Merced, hosts postgraduate programs from the University of Cartagena, constitute an architectural intervention unit. Teatro Adolfo Mejía is two-story Republican building with neoclassical features. The central entry is framed by three semicircular arches on the first floor and three galleries with concrete balustrades on the second floor. Claustro de la Merced presents an "O" cloister type typological scheme with neoclassical lines on two floors. The facade and floor are symmetrical, and a portico posing as an atrium with Corinthian columns highlights its entrance with a semicircular pediment on the axis of the volumetric composition. Currently it is the headquarters for the postgraduate students of the University of Cartagena.
