This bridge is named for James M. Baker, to honor his service as the first African American President of the Wilmington City Council and the first Mayor to serve three consecutive 4-year terms. He is appreciated for his love for this city and his initiative in rejuvenating Clifford Brown Walk and the surrounding area.
