Fritz Conijn kwam op zeer jonge leeftijd in aanraking met het verzet. Hij werd met zijn zwager Doeko Bosscher één van de belangrijkste verzetslieden van de Landelijke Organisatie voor hulp aan onderduikers in Alkmaar. Deze groep beschikte over waardevolle contacten bij onder andere kerken, politie en de Distributiedienst.
Fritz Conijn assisteerde bij overvallen in het land en was betrokken bij de oprichting van de knokploeg in Alkmaar. Hij werd verraden en op 6 september 1944 samen met twee verzetsvrienden in Kamp Vught gefusilleerd.
Hij wordt beschouwd als een van de belangrijkste leden van het Nederlands verzet en ontving hiervoor postuum het Verzetskruis 1940-1945.
Fritz Conijn came into contact with the resistance at a very young age. Fritz Conijn assisted in raids in the country and was involved in the establishment of the militia in Alkmaar. He was betrayed and shot on 6 September 1944 together with two resistance friends in Kamp Vught.
He is considered one of the most important members of the Dutch resistance and was posthumously awarded the Resistance Cross 1940-1945.
