Brandywine Park in Wilmington in New Castle County, Delaware — The American Northeast (Mid-Atlantic)
Hybrid Tea Roses
The predominant type of rose in this garden is the Hybrid Tea.
Since the early part of the 20th century, the Hybrid Tea has been the most popular class of rose grown, both in gardens and for the cut-flower market. The first Hybrid Tea ever cultivated was believed to be an accidental cross between a wild rose known as the tea rose and a popular Victorian class of roses known as Hybrid Perpetuals. Bush form and large flowers borne singly or in clusters at the ends of canes characterize Hybrid Teas. Flowers are generally double, are repeat bloomers from June until frost and are available in a broad range of colors.
