Saratoga Springs in Saratoga County, New York — The American Northeast (Mid-Atlantic)
The D&H
The D&H railroad tracks were laid in 1839, running through the center of town, very close to where you stand now. Their peak use was between 1910-1960.
Shanties such as this one were located at crossings and manned day and night. A watchman raised and lowered the gates or waved signs to protect the public whenever a train came through.
Dedicated to the railroad workers of the Saratoga Springs area.
