Vinson’s Department Store was one of the town's first general stores. Vinson's sold furniture, sewing machines, baby buggies, pianos, clothing, shoes, and other assorted merchandise. James Vinson and his brother, L. D. Vinson, operated Vinson's. L. D. Vinson later became a certified embalmer and filled the town's need for funeral services. He opened Vinson's funeral home, a business that still operates today.
