W.H. Gourley built this two-part masonry vernacular commercial building about 1905. It originally housed a tailor/pressing shop and a grocery store in its first story shops. The second floor was used for apartments. Later businesses operating out of the building included a dry goods store and a mens wear shop. Gourley opened a hardware business in the building in the 1920s and continued to rent the upstairs apartments.
