1. Charles H. Coolidge Marker
Inscription. Born August 4, 1921, on Signal Mountain, Tennessee, Charles Coolidge joined the U. S. Army in June 1942. He served as a Technical Sergeant in Company M, 141 Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division. During an enemy attack on October 24, 1944 and the following three days, east of Belmont sur Buttant, France, Coolidge assumed command of his group and showed heroic and superior leadership. In July of 1945, for his actions during the battle, he was awarded the Medal of Honor, the U. S. military's highest decoration.
