1. Baptist Church Marker
Inscription.
The Baptist Church has had three sites. Old Chariton was organized 1820, with twenty members. 1827 was moved to Monticello, then 1861 to Glasgow where a substantial brick house was built and sold in 1866 to the Presbyterians. After some years the congregation erected the present building, one of the most elegant churches in the county, at a cost of $12,000.00. Dedicated 1871.
