1. Toronto’s architectural gems—the Bank of Commerce (CIBC) on King Street.
The site of the bank tower is at the corner of King and Jordon Streets. The bank has occupied this site for many years. However, in the early days of the town of York, the first Methodist Church had been located there. The church was eventually to become Metropolitan United Church at Queen Street East and Church Streets. The plaque is on the Bank of Commerce Building (CIBC) today, and commemorates the historic importance of the site where the skyscraper is located. The plaque is attached to the east facade of the building, on Jordon Street.

2. The First Methodist Church in Toronto Marker
(marker is near the northeast corner of the Canadian Bank of Commerce building, facing Jordan Street)
was founded in 1818. It was initially housed in a small chapel on King Street West. In 1833, a larger structure was completed on Adelaide Street. It moved to its present location in 1872 when the building was dedicated as the Metropolitan Wesleyan Methodist Church.

3. Metropolitan Methodist Church.
The history of the Wesleyan Methodist congregation dates back to 1818 when it built a modest church in downtown Toronto. This building was replaced in 1831 and again in 1833 with a Georgian-style building that could accommodate 1000 people. As the congregation continued to grow it moved to its present location on Queen Street.
