Inscription.
On June 27, 1942, the First Motion Picture Unit, U.S. Air Force, was officially constituted and activated by orders of the Adjutant General of the United States Army.
The First Motion Picture Unit produced films for our soldiers throughout World War II, and processed footage sent back from the battlefields. Some of the employees named on our honor roll also served in the FMPU.
Colonel Jack L. Warner was designated commanding officer of this unit, which established temporary headquarters at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California. Captain Owen Crump was appointed executive officer.
This plaque is dedicated to the officers and enlisted personnel of the First Motion Picture Unit who served their country with honor and distinction in World War II.

The War Memorial was dedicated in July 1944 as the Honor Roll Monument paying tribute to all Warner Bros. employees who entered the service during World War II. It was designed by Ralph Beattie of the Maintenance Dept. and was constructed by employees of that department. In July 1945, Harry Platt and Pasquale Manuelli of the Staff Shop added the flag raising on Iwo Jima to top off the Honor Roll.

Erected 1944 by Warner Brothers Studios.
