Inscription.   Oorspronkelijk woonhuis uit de 16de eeuw met links een poort. In de loop der tijd verbouwd, vergroot en gemoderniseerd. Voorgevel uit de 18de eeuw in Lodewijk XIV-stijl. Van 1864 tot 1894 bewoond door de kunstschilder en kunstverzamelaar Paul Tétar van Elven. Sinds 1927 museum voor zijn collectie.

Originally a private house from the 16th century with an alley on the left. In the course of time enlarged and modernized. The front is 18th century (Louis XIV). From 1864 till 1894 occupied by the artist and art collector Paul Tétar van Elven. Since 1927 museum for his collection.

Overview: In the centre of Delft, on the Koornmarkt, stands the house of Paul Tetar van Elven (1823-1896). He was an artist, a drawing-master at the Polytechnic School (now the Technical University of Delft) and also a fervent collector of art, antiques, Delft blue pottery and porcelain from the Far East. In his will he left his house and its contents to be turned into a museum. The result is the only well-preserved, authentic example of a 19th century artist’s house in The Netherlands.
