1. Sherman George Marker
Inscription. Sherman George was born in New Madrid, MO and graduated from Central Missouri State University. He had a distinguished career in the St. Louis Fire Department for over 30 years. In 1999 he became the 1st Black Fire Chief for the City of St. Louis, with responsibility for over 700 firefighters and support personnel.
