Overview and WW2 (in translation): Roberto Veratti (Milan, May 13, 1902 - Milan, December 24, 1943) was an Italian lawyer and partisan.(Submitted on March 24, 2023.)
During the Second World War he resumed contact with the clandestine socialist organization (Movimento di Unità Proletaria) and in 1943 he was the representative of the PSI in the Anti-Fascist Committee of Milan. After the fall of Mussolini (July 25, 1943) he entered the management of the PSIUP, the name assumed by the Socialist Party, and with Rodolfo Morandi he was at the helm of the Milanese editorial staff of Avanti!. After the armistice (8 September 1943) he was the representative of the socialist party in the Upper Italy National Liberation Committee. Being engaged in clandestine activity, and wanted by the Nazi-fascists, he contracted severe septicemia which, since it could not be treated, led him suddenly to death.
