1. Gateway National Bank Marker
Inscription. Gateway National Bank is the first black owned bank in the state of Missouri. Founded to address a severe lack of interest in the economic needs of African-Americans in St. Louis, the bank's mission was to lead clients on the road to a sound base for economic self help and to promote their desire to become a productive part of the community.
