Inscription. Joseph Henry "Jo Jo" White is a native of St. Louis. He is a graduate of McKinley High School and the University of Kansas. He became the first African American from St. Louis to play in the National Basketball Association. Playing for the Boston Celtics, White was a seven-time All-Star and was named MVP in 1976.
