Inscription. The Boys Baseball Association was founded in 1956 at the YMCA on Farish Street in Jackson by Curtis Coward, a local resident. With no baseball fields available for Black youth at the time, the first games were played at Brinkley Elementary-Junior High and G.N. Smith Elementary, both Black schools. Games were mostly played on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. After the construction of Grove Park in 1959, games were played there. The Boys Baseball Association received its charter and incorporated on May 10, 1965.
