1. Goodman School Marker
Inscription. Built in 1921 with assistance from the Rosenwald Fund and known locally as the Goodman School for Negroes, the Goodman School served African American students in the first through eighth grades in the Goodman-Pickens area. Local Black citizens raised most of the $4,000 construction cost. After closing as a school in 1965. the building housed the local Head Start program from 1967 to the early 1980s. Since then, the school has been used as a community center.
 
Erected 2022 by Mississippi Department of Archives and History.
