1. 1917-1927 Marker
Inscription.
1924   The village council created a police department. The chief of police and other policemen were appointed by the Village President with consent of the Council.

The police department, jail and village offices were housed at the Rochester Village Hall (located at 4th and East Alley) until 1961.

The police department and village offices moved to the new Rochester Municipal Building at 400 6th Street in 1961.
