1. "Mahanayim" House (Frutiger House) Marker

Inscription. This splendid Neo-Classic building was erected in 1885 by the German banker, Johannes (Jacob) Frutiger as his private residence and named by him "Mahanayim" (Genesis 32:2). From 1896 it was the Evelina De Rothschild School. Among the buildings residents were Zionist leader Menachem Ussishkin and Commissioner Lord Plumer. Since 1951, it has housed offices of the Ministry of Education.
