Inscription. In 1934, a group of local businessmen and farmers met in the back of a furniture store in Corinth and created the Alcorn County Electric Power Association (ACEPA). Chartered on January 17, 1934, ACEPA began operations on June 1. With local banker B.F. Liddon serving as the first chairman, the cooperatives offices were initially located in the Liddon Bank building. ACEPA is recognized as the first rural electric power cooperative in the nation and served as a model for other rural electric cooperatives.
