A gifted and popular teacher, Dr. Barnard held degrees from the University of Michigan. He came to York College as full Professor and Specialist in American Literature. He served as Academic Senate President (1973-1974) and established and directed the Campus Writing Center. He pioneered computer-assisted composition instruction. His broad interests across academic disciplines benefited his students and the curriculum as a whole.
