1. Saint John Marker
Inscription. John, the youngest of the twelve apostles, and his brother James were mending fishing nets when Jesus called to them, “ Come follow me!” From that time on they became His faithful and constant companions. John was the only one who stayed with Mary beneath the Cross at Calvary and was entrusted by Jesus to care for her. John founded the Church at Jerusalem and later moved to Ephesus in Asia Minor. He is symbolized by an eagle because in his Gospel he soars above the things of earth and speaks of the divine nature of Christ.
