This bell rung in the Orleans Academy building when built in 1864, remained in the enlarged public school building until it was razed in 1965.

1. Two Years Given::
The older "School Bell" marker states 1864 as the year for the building of the "Orleans Academy".
The "Indiana Historical Marker" (a newer marker) standing a few feet away - notes 1866 as the year of construction for the "Orleans Academy" with its operation in 1867.
One of the markers is "right" - while one of the markers is "not-so" right..!! So the Bell - Rings on...!!
