General Schwarzkopf was highly decorated in the Vietnam War and was awarded three Silver Stars, two Purple Hearts, and the Legion of Merit. He led all coalition forces in Operation Desert Storm as head of the United States Central Command where he directed an international force of over 750,000 troops, tanks, stealth, aircraft, and the last operational battleships in the world. In an unprecedented 100-hour ground campaign, his coalition forces thoroughly defeated the 4th-largest army in the world.
