Fredericksburg, Virginia — The American South (Mid-Atlantic)
Site of 18th-Century Storehouse
This wooden building was 13 feet by 24 feet, with wooden shingles and an insubstantial brick foundation. Archaeological evidence suggest that objects were stored on a raised wooden floor. Storehouses might contain surplus production by slave artisans, crops awauting shipment to market, tools, gunpowder, and important goods of every description.
