Inscription. One half-mile southeast on the northeast corner of Gay and Front Streets, at Chisholm-Loves Tavern on St. John's Day, December 27, 1813, representatives of 8 Tennessee Masonic Lodges convened to receive a "Great Charter" from The Grand Lodge of North Carolina constituting an independent Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Tennessee.
