More about this marker. Thompson actually was born in Fairfield, a community in neighboring Franklin County that was established circa 1815. The community was inundated in the early 1970s as a result of dam construction and now lies underneath Brookville Lake. The plaque – and the boulder it is attached to – were moved to higher ground near the lake before the town was flooded. When the owner of that property decided to develop it in 2017, the Franklin County Historical Society moved the boulder to its current location at the Seminary Museum.
