Inscription. The storm of all storms was the devastating Labor Day Hurricane of 1935 ( Category 5 at 200 mph winds). It obliterated the Middle Keys' Long Key taking with it over 600 lives, 40 miles of track and the rescue train with engine 447. This passenger car, built in 1919, was found on Pigeon Key tracks on its side. It has since been moved to Crane Point Hammock, the original site of Marathon's railway station of 1910.
