Honesdale in Wayne County, Pennsylvania — The American Northeast (Mid-Atlantic)
Veterans Park
We Veterans Remember
for our freedom
In memory of Sgt. Bernard G. Southerton, US Army
WWII - POW, Four Bronze Stars, Purple Heart,
from the Lau nieces and nephews.
I am a soldier
from one of the wars past.
Which war doesn't matter,
each to be the last.
I fought bravely,
facing fire and lead.
And for the cause of freedom,
life's blood was shed.
I'm in heaven now,
where there is no war.
Where peace is forever,
death I face no more.
Yes, I am a soldier,
who died to keep you free.
I see you haven't forgotten,
thanks for remembering me.
