Downtown Muncie offers vibrant cultural experiences for all ages. Within a 30 block area major cultural venues anchor a lively district of galleries, performance spaces, restaurants, pubs and taverns featuring live entertainment.
Family Experience And Education In The Arts
At the corners of the downtown area are two institutions important to the cultural life. On East Main Street, Cornerstone Center for the Arts hosts many events in its historic 1926 Masonic Temple building. It offers educational programs in the visual and performing arts and houses a number of emerging arts organizations On South High Street the Muncie Children's Museum provides fun and interactive exhibits that stimulate curiosity.

On the first Thursday of each month private and non-profit art galleries throughout the downtown district jointly open exhibitions of local regional and national artists.
Nightlife
Restaurants, pubs and taverns featuring live bands are plentiful downtown. Frequent street festivals and block parties keep the mood lively.
Performing Arts
Muncie Civic Theatre on East Main Street was established in 1931 and remains one of Muncie's enduring cultural icons. Civic maintains a full schedule of performances throughout the year in its beautiful historic theatre.
Canan Commons, Muncie's urban park, is located on South Walnut Street. Its beautiful outdoor performance stage is host to regional and national acts during the summer months.
