1. John James Marker
Inscription. Arrived in 1814 and purchased 776 acres of land from Col. Benjamin Chambers. John, with sons Pinkney and Henry, surveyed the land and platted Rising Sun. While he wasn't the first settler, James is known as the city's founder.
