1. First Sermon in Rising Sun Marker

Inscription. The first sermon in Rising Sun was held at the end of Main Street in the summer of 1815. Methodist minister John Stranger preached from the trunk of a fallen tree. Pews were branches of trees cut down to build cabins. C.A. Craft's barroom later became the first Methodist Church.
