1. Shadrach Hathaway Marker
Inscription. Married a daughter of Prince Athearn and built a log home at Front & Fourth Streets. It was also the town's first shoe shop. He became very successful in dry goods and built the large brick block on Main St. where he kept assorted merchandise.

2. The Courtyard Inn
Hathaway built the brick building at the corner in 1827 to replace his log home and also house his store. Pinkney James and Abel C. Pepper, two other early settlers, built the attached row houses on the left in the 1830s.
