Excerpt: Never in the history of DAR have representatives from the organization visited the Netherlands to express our gratitude to the Dutch for their financial support of our American Revolution — until now! It was the highest privilege to unveil a permanent DAR historic marker on the Museum of the Canals in Amsterdam in the very building where our first foreign ambassador John Adams signed the loan for what would be equivalent to $200 billion today (and thereby forcing the Netherlands into war with Great Britain). In fact, this special ceremony began inside the museum — in the very room where the transaction took place (on the original wooden floor)!(Submitted on May 7, 2023.)
