Inscription. The Hankins Stone Arch Bridge was built of local stone by Wallace LaValley in 1892. (A sister bridge in Basket was destroyed in a flood.) The bridge provided a crossing of Hankins Creek for through travelers prior to the building of the current State Route 97. The arch design provided strength to the span, enabling it to remain in place for over 100 years. In 1999, the bridge was restored to its original form.
