1. Rising Sun Airport Marker

Inscription. The Rising Sun Airport was open from 1943 to 1975 on 15 acres off Fifth Street. It had seven hangars housing nine planes. Lights from cars and tractors were used to land planes at night. Governor Harold Handley used the runway in 1960. There were two air shows held in the late 1960s.
