Inscription. The General Building is one of the best preserved Chicago-style high rises in Auckland and is an excellent example of early 'modern' American architecture in New Zealand.

Location. 36° 50.817′ S, 174° 46.038′ E. Marker is in Auckland. It is in the Central Business District. Marker is on Shortland close to O'Connell, on the left when traveling west. The front of the building, and the address, is on Shortland Street, but the marker is in the sidewalk on the O'Connell Street side of the building. Touch for map.
