Regarding Hawkins-Kirby House. Hawkins (1815-) graduated from Hanover College in Indiana in 1837 and earned his law degree from Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky. three years later. He then practiced in Warsaw until moving in 1854 to Newport, Ky., where he served as mayor from 1858 to 1862.
