Regarding Hall House - 1842. Hall, a native of County Down, Northern Ireland, emigrated to the United States via Canada in 1837, when he was about 20 years old. He built the house the same year he married Sarah “Sallie” Singer, who would later found the Switzerland County Historical Society. Hall was partner in Hall and Lewis Mercantile and was a sutler during the Civil War. He died in the house in 1891.
