Khatchkar Sculpture
This sculpture, a Khatchkar/Cross Stone, is dedicated to the 1700th anniversary of proclamation of Christianity as state religion in Armenia (301 A.D.)
The inscription on the Khatchkar is "Let there be light, and there was light" /Genesis 1:2/
This Khathckar was crafted by Armenak Hambartsumian, donated to the Embassy of Armenia by Shen Company (Yerevan, Armenia). It was transported from Armenia and installed by Aleek Armenian Cultural Organization of Washington, DC.
Unveiled on 31 of May, 2001 by His Holiness Garegin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of all Armenians.
Erected 2001 by Embassy of Armenia.
