1. Buddy Pepper House Marker
Inscription. Buddy Pepper (1922-1993) a pianist, songwriter, and actor during Hollywood's “Golden Age,” lived in this house from his birth through 1932. He is best remembered as a writer of the most popular song of 1953, “Vaya Con Dios,” which was recorded by acclaimed husband and wife duo Les Paul and Mary Ford. The award-winning song became an instant classic and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2005. As an actor, Buddy co-starred in movies with icons Mickey Rooney, Jackie Cooper, Spencer Tracy, and Jane Withers. He served in the Special Services as an entertainer during WWII and rose to the rank of Sergeant. As a pianist, Buddy accompanied such popular songstresses as Judy Garland, Margaret Whiting, and Marlene Dietrich.
