1. William Kerr House Marker
Inscription.
This residential structure was
built by Irish born William
Kerr. He moved to Key West in
1872 and constructed the
building as his home in
1875. The exquisite roof and
porch detailing feature
Carpenter Gothic style
decorations. The style is a
North American architectural
format that is based on Gothic
Revival architecture. William
Kerr was the prominent
builder of his time. His impact
is notable in buildings such as
the Convent of Mary
Immaculate, the Custom House
and the Old Stone Church.
