The Long-A-Coming Station, as it was originally called, was built in 1856. The name was changed to Berlin 1867.
The first Station Agent was Joseph L. Thackara. The station was used for both passengers and freight. In the 1960's, the rail line was reduced from a double track to a single track and the station was closed due to decreased rail travel.
In 1994, the Long-A-Coming Historical Society organized the restoration of the station.
The Berlin Train Station is the oldest existing station in New Jersey. It is listed on the New Jersey and National Registry of Historic Places.
