Part of Iroquoia, then one of first 9 towns when Tompkins County was formed in 1817. Returned to Seneca County in 1819.

Main Street (New York State Route 96) south of Orchard Street, on the left when traveling south. Located in front of the Town of Covert Municipal Building which is also American Legion Post 462.
