Krijn Martinus Breur
Dordrecht, 25 mei 1917 - Leusderheide, 5 februari 1943

Krijn Breuer had socialist ideals from an early age. During his high school years he was a member of the Workers Youth Central (AJC): a socialist youth movement. From mid-1937 to the end of 1938, he took part in the Spanish Civil War as a 'political commissar'. In the Netherlands he distributed the communist magazine De Waarheid (“The Truth”) from mid-1940 and carried out espionage work. He also provided assistance to Jewish people in hiding by providing them with shelter, providing ration cards and forging identity cards. Breur was a member of the Dutch People's Militia (NVM), a communist resistance organization. In Amsterdam he was in charge of a small sabotage group. In 1942 he committed attacks on ammunition depots and garages of the German army with the help of self-made time bombs. On November 19, he was arrested in The Hague by the Sicherheitspolizei and later executed with 19 others on February 5 on the Leusderheide.
