Henk Curière sr. leidde tussen 1940 en 1945 in de Spaarndammerbuurt een kleine communistische verzetsgroep die zich voornamelijk bezig hield met de verspreiding van verzetskranten (de illegale De Waarheid) en het verzamelen van geld voor mensen die ondergedoken zaten. Hij is onderscheiden met het Verzetskruis en de Gouden Speld van de Gemeente Amsterdam.
Between 1940 and 1945, Henk Curière, Sr. led a small communist resistance group in the Spaarndammer neighborhood, which was mainly concerned with the distribution of resistance newspapers (the illegal De Waarheid) and collecting money for people in hiding. He was awarded the Resistance Cross and the Golden Pin of the Municipality of Amsterdam.
